Kjersti SØNDEROL
General Notes: Hun dro sammen med søsterem Rangdi. Kjersti og Gudbrand ble vertskap for mange nordmenn som kom over til det nye landet. Bl.a. bodde nevøene hennes Einar og Andrew Syndrol hos dem, mens de ble amerikanisert. Hun kalles 'Aunti Rustad' Willard Torgrim skriver om henne: Kjersti Söndrol came tu USA in 1950. She was married July 23, 1854, at Beloit, Wisconsin, to Gulbrand O. Rustad (1826-1903). They eventually made their home at Decorah, where he was a prominent and respected citizen. He worked at the Augsburg Publishing House, Decorah, and was also a merchant. For many years he was the treasurer for the 'Norske Synode', and was always active in church affairs. He served the community in many ways and was one of the men who selected the site for Luther College, in which he was much interested. Kjersti was a great helper and was called 'Auntie' Rustad by a great many people. She welcomed relatives who came over from Norway as well as those already here, and made a home for her nephews, Einar and Andrew, and others when they first came over. 9 Noted events in her life were: • Travel, 1850.
