According to a handwritten genealogy from 1769, he was born in Gent, Flanders, in 1479. He was a doctor there and became a protestant. For this, he was thrown in prison by the Duke of Alba. But the duke became ill, and Dr. Paludan was able to help him. As a reward, he was allowed to emigrate with his family, and he settled as doctor in Luebeck, where he died in 1561. ¹⁴⁵
